My Trip to the Hobby Lobby in Jackson, Tennessee

Exploring the Arts and Crafts Paradise in West Tennessee

As an avid crafter and home decor enthusiast, I was absolutely thrilled when I learned that a brand new Hobby Lobby location was opening up right here in my hometown of Jackson, Tennessee! The moment I heard the news, I knew I needed to be one of the first people to visit the store and scope out everything it has to offer.

Being a long-time Hobby Lobby fan, I have visited numerous locations across the country. However, having one right here in Jackson is so much more convenient than driving an hour or more to the nearest one like I used to. The address of the new Jackson Hobby Lobby store is 1731 North Highland Avenue, which is in a great commercial area on the north side of town with plenty of other big box stores and restaurants.

Eager hobbyists like me will be happy to know the Jackson Hobby Lobby keeps pretty standard store hours. They are open Mondays through Saturdays from 9:00AM to 8:00PM. On Sundays, they open a little later at 12:00PM and close earlier at 6:00PM. This gives crafty early birds plenty of time to get their creative juices flowing on weekend mornings! Knowing they stay open until 8:00PM on weeknights is super helpful too, since I can pop in after work if I need something.

One of the things I was most excited to check out at the new store was the custom framing department. I’ve used Hobby Lobby for custom framing jobs in the past with fantastic results. The quality of the frames and mats is always top-notch, and I find their prices to be very reasonable. I brought in a couple of prints I’ve been meaning to get framed, and the staff at the Jackson store was just as knowledgeable and helpful as I’ve experienced at other locations. I can’t wait to pick up my finished pieces!

Of course, no trip to Hobby Lobby would be complete without perusing the enormous selection of arts, crafts, and home decor items. From fabric, sewing machines, and yarn, to paints, floral supplies, and picture frames, they seriously have it all. The Jackson store did not disappoint in its inventory – I was there for nearly two hours and still didn’t see everything! A few of my favorite finds were the wall art options, faux plants and flowers, and Christmas crafts, which I know I’ll be back for.

One section of the store that blew me away was the home decor showroom featuring fully decorated room displays. From chic dining rooms to cozy reading nooks, it was like walking through a home design magazine! Each vignette shows off Hobby Lobby’s furniture, rugs, wall decor, and accessories perfectly. I snapped some photos for inspiration next time I want to spruce up a room.

Speaking of home upgrades, I was thrilled to see the Jackson location offers Hobby Lobby Home, their interior design services. I booked a consultation to get help styling my front porch for fall. For an hourly fee, their designers can help with projects of any size. I’ll be sure to share the finished porch reveal soon!

In addition to interior design services, the Jackson Hobby Lobby provides custom framing, basic craft classes, and birthday party activities. Class schedules are posted on their website. I’m already planning to sign up for a Christmas wreath making workshop – I’m sure it will get me in the holiday spirit! Kids’ birthday parties sound fun too with craft projects the birthday boy or girl gets to pick out.

One of the biggest perks of this store opening so close to home is that I can easily place online orders for pick-up. No more waiting around for shipping – I can conveniently grab my web orders right at the customer service desk. The Jackson store has a dedicated parking spot for pick-ups, so it’s quick and easy.

Speaking of convenient, I was thrilled to see they offer order pick-up on their app now too! I downloaded it right away and plan to utilize this option frequently. The app also includes the weekly ad, coupons, workshop schedules, and notifications of sales or new product arrivals. Definitely a must-have for Hobby Lobby devotees like myself!

When I visited during the week, the store wasn’t too crowded at all. However, weekends tend to be much busier, so weekdays are best for a relaxing shopping experience. The store is massive at just under 60,000 square feet, so even at peak times, it’s easy to navigate and find what you need. The wide aisles and large signage help too. One thing I would recommend is avoiding the crafting demo area on weekends if you don’t want to battle crowds –it’s a popular spot!

Speaking of crowds, one thing I noticed right away was the ample parking available. The parking lot is massive, so finding a spot close to the entrance was no problem at all. I can imagine parking is still sufficient even on the busiest weekends. The separate pick-up parking area is a great feature as well.

The new Jackson Hobby Lobby location is in North Park shopping center, surrounded by plenty of other big retailers like Target, Old Navy, Books-A-Million, and Michaels. For crafty types like me, having a Michaels right next door is a dream come true! When I need a break from shopping, there are also lots of dining options in the center like Olive Garden, Cheddar’s, and McAlister’s Deli.

Inside the store, I was very impressed with how neat, clean and well-stocked everything was. As one of the first customers, I expected to see some empty shelves or disorganization, but the store was perfectly merchandised. I asked an employee about restocking, and she explained that they have daily overnight inventory to replace popular or limited items. It seems like they work hard to keep the shelves full at all times.

Speaking of employees, every single one I interacted with was so friendly, helpful and knowledgeable! They all seemed genuinely excited to work at the new location. I look forward to seeing familiar faces each time I visit. Be sure to ask the staff for recommendations if you’re ever unsure about a product – their advice is extremely valuable.

To get the inside scoop, I also asked the store manager what some of their top-selling products are. She shared that seasonal décor like Christmas trees and ornaments fly off the shelves this time of year. Home accents like wall art and faux plants are also big hits. In the crafts department, fabric, Cricut machines, and trendy DIY project supplies are hugely popular right now.

Community support and involvement are clearly very important to the new Jackson Hobby Lobby location. They were a major sponsor of our recent local fall festival, and I heard they have plans for even more community events and partnerships soon. I love that they are really making an effort to give back locally. It shows they want to be a valued member of our community, not just another big box store.

As a blogger and crafty entrepreneur myself, I know firsthand how important good customer reviews and feedback are for a new business. I was happy to see the Jackson Hobby Lobby already has glowing reviews, with most customers giving them a perfect 5-star rating. Many reviews tout the friendly employees, neat store displays, and convenient shopping experience. It seems they are off to a great start! I made sure to leave them a fabulous review myself, of course.

For any aspiring arts and crafts entrepreneurs out there, I also asked about possible job opportunities at the new store. The manager encouraged me to check their website, as full and part-time positions are posted frequently across all departments. She said they love hiring creative, passionate people who want to enable customers’ DIY dreams! I think working at Hobby Lobby would be such a fun job.

After an amazing inaugural shopping trip, I simply cannot wait to go back and discover even more of what the new Jackson Hobby Lobby has in store (literally!). As a lifelong arts and crafts junkie, this place is my absolute happy place. Having it right here in my hometown instead of an hour away makes projects, parties and home decor jobs so much easier. I’m sure I’ll be a familiar face to the staff in no time! Whether you’re a diehard hobby enthusiast like me or just looking for some affordable home upgrades, this store is an absolute must-visit. Happy crafting, Jackson!
